Install – Duff Roblin Provincial Park, MB.
The Duff Roblin Provincial Park viewing platform is a homage to the Winnipeg flood control system. The one-of-a-kind steel ramp and observation deck offer panoramic views of the Red River Floodway and the Inlet Control Structure. Erected in the centre of the platform stands an original, 40-foot-long piston from the floodway gates; a 1960s bulldozer is featured in the plaza as a nod to the equipment used to construct the floodway.
Wiebe’s came onto the project to install the pre-engineered steel structure. This project’s unique specifications posed unique challenges: the walls are made from steel sheet pile; heavy sheets of steel that are designed to build walls which hold soil or water out of an area, typically by driving the sheets into the ground with a hydraulic press.
